01 — Who we are
Independent, licensed services built for environmental markets
Viridian is operated by AFS Group, a European financial service provider and multi-channel, multi-asset intermediary in wholesale financial markets and renewable energy products.
Within the platform:
- Brokerage & Execution Services are provided by AFS Execution Services B.V.
- MTF Trading Facilities are operated and managed by AFS E-Venues B.V.
With offices in Amsterdam (HQ) and New York and over 180 employees, the group provides transaction advice, voice and hybrid broking, direct market access, and platform services.
AFS was founded in 2000 through the merger of predecessors whose collective histories date back more than 175 years and remains one of the few management- and employee-owned independent financial intermediaries.
Our diversified client base spans more than 3,000 active counterparties — asset managers, banks, corporates, family offices, funds, pension funds, insurers, market makers, municipalities, utilities, and ministries of finance.

02 — How we operate
The entities behind the venue
AFS Execution Services is the trading entity for all EUA trading and licensed. AFS Energy B.V. is the trading entity for all GO trading.
AFS E-Venues B.V. is the operator of the MTF. In this capacity, AFS E-Venues monitors real-time trading activity on the MTF to detect insider trading, spoofing and market manipulation.
AFS Group — Parent
The parent company of the group.
AFS E-Venues B.V. — MTF operator
Licensed by the AFM since 2019, with MIC code AFSE. Owns the rulebook, runs market surveillance and publishes trade data under MiFIR. Admits participants to the MTF.
Viridian Exchange — Venue brand
The brand name of the venue, not a legal entity. The Trade Agreement using Viridian is under AFS Execution Services.
AFS Execution Services — Onboarding & execution
Executes all trades and is the counter party to all EUA clients.
AFS Energy B.V. — Registry accounts
Is the counterparty for all GO clients and GO registries.
AFS Foundation — Independent holding of EUAs
Is a riskless entity holding EUAs.
