03 — How matching works
Matching via Onscreen Exchange
When you place an order on the MTF, it enters a live order book alongside orders from other participants. The moment a buyer's price meets a seller's price, the trade executes automatically — at that price, instantly, with no broker deciding who trades with whom.

AFS E-Venues BV is the operator of the MTF. In this capacity AFS E-Venues monitors real-time trading activities on the MTF to detect insider trading, spoofing, and market manipulation. (Spoofing is an illegal market manipulation tactic where a trader places large, fake buy or sell orders with no intention of executing them).
AFS E-Venues has the power to halt or constrain trading instantly to protect market quality and actively flag and report suspicious transactions or order behaviours to the relevant regulator.

Viridian Exchange operates on a transparent model with no fixed membership, clearing, or hidden intermediary fees. Buyers and Sellers only pay a flat fee per executed trade, eliminating hidden costs.
The venue relies on fully segregated accounts and escrow protection. Assets and funds always remain legally yours, backed by institutional-grade safeguards and regulated governance frameworks from its parent organization, the AFS Group.
The exchange does features a time zero (TO) EUA product, designed for same day settlement when funds or certificates are available of the client in Viridian. Once a trade executes, the physical transfer of certificates is safety arranged same day. For GO deliveries are based on the forward settlement structure, no same day settlement terms are available on a rolling basis.
Beyond its core secondary spot market for EU Emissions Allowances (EUAs), Viridian Exchange has expanded its scope to support the trading of Guarantees of Origin (GOs) for renewable energy.
Onboarding is a fully digital, multi-tiered process. A buyer can register a company name and website online to become a “view-only” client in under a minute to monitor live order books. Full trading access is achieved within minutes upon finishing standard digital KYC approval.
